Las Posadas

Our community will be participating in the Spanish celebration of “Posada”—meaning inn or shelter.

Join the candlelit procession with Mary, Joseph, their little donkey, a host of angels, star bearers, the kindly beasts, Wise Men, and shepherds, who follow them on their winding path to find a place for the Lord.  They knock on several doors (the Inns) and ask for room “Hay posada?” but all of the innkeepers reply, “No hay posada!” until the holy ones find a resting place.

Our journey ends in church where we’ll begin our usual Saturday night vespers service. We realize this is an extra trip for families, but know it will add to the exciting expectation of the Nativity to come.Everyone loves Posada! If you can’t stay for vespers (about 45 mins to 1 hour), so be it, but come for Posada.

Children are invited to take part in the procession. Adults can join the procession or the join the innkeepers.

A short practice with the children will take place after coffee hour on Sunday, 17th and on Saturday 23rd at 5:00 p.m. (before we start.)

If your children plan to come, please contact Mat. Angela to talk about simple costumes!
