|
Me, my infant son and my best friend (all Orthodox) visited St. John this month. I was told to write a letter the night before our visit to St. John and leave the letter with him upon leaving.
I did this and asked for help with a variety of things for my family (job help, health and prayer requests), and for my friends who are patiently waiting to start a family. While visiting with
St. John, I felt very light and peacefu. My infant son put his hand down on the glass above this wonderful Saint and wouldn't take his eyes off of the large icon of St. John above it.
Things I had asked for help on are coming together through St. John's intercessions. We plan on visiting St. John as often as possible for help. Not only did we find peace praying with
St. John but the Russian people that were there after the Liturgy were so hospitable and loving towards us. We felt completely at home there. Everyone should visit St. John
EVERYONE! Many Years and many thanks to the members of St. John's church in San Francisco!
Glory to God for all things!

|
I converted to Orthodoxy about five years ago and have had two experiences since that are dearest to my heart.
One was the moment when, on the way to the emergency room, a prayer to the most Holy Theotokos stopped the profuse bleeding
from a surgical wound as soon as it was breathed on my behalf. The other is the day when, during a visit to San Francisco,
I was able to venerate the holy relics of Saint John. Though I had no physical healing at that time, a miracle is wrought
in me each time I think of the Holy Saint and his uncorrupt frame...this sinner is moved to renewed faith in the One True
God to whom Saint John so wholeheartedly gave his life, and to repentance.
Pray unto God for me a sinner, O Holy Saint John, well-pleasing to the Lord.

|
When I was pregnant with son last year, I went to a humble little local chapel that has a large picture framed of St. John as an Icon on the right hand side.
I venerated St. John not knowing who he was, but was drawn over to the portrait anyways. My child kicked around in my womb frantically and I stepped back
from the Icon. When I moved forward, the child moved frantically again. My husband heard the story and told me about St. John and had me read up on him.
We almost named our child "John" because of this, but rather have St. John as the patron saint of our home now.
I told the story to my friend, Irene, a new Orthodox Christian who was inspired to visit St. John in San Francisco a few weeks ago.
We both have a friend who was trying to become pregnant, and both her and her hubby just lost their jobs during a huge layoff at their
place of employment just recently. These Orthodox friends of ours were very upset over losing their jobs and they were planning on moving out
of the area to another city (that didn't have an Orthodox Church) due to this.
They were prayed for by Irene at the very place where St. John rests now. Our mutual friend is now pregnant AND oddly enough, the company she works for did an
about-face and gave them their jobs back last Friday. We all feel that St. John is taking care of our prayer requests and although we are not worthy of these
wonderful gifts, he continues to intevene for us.
Glory to be to God for all things!

|
St. John Maximovitch did it again!
This is the second time the Maricaban Orthodox Catholic Community celebrated the anniversary of the Igreja Catolica Apostolica Brasileira nas Filipinas.
This time, it was celebrated on July 4, 2001,.
Again as in the previous year, the typhoon (this time, in the Philippines it was called Feria and it left 128 dead and millions of properties damaged)
lashed Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon from July 2-6, 2001,. However, on July 4, the day of the celebration, there were no rains and floods in Maricaban,
only strong winds, Roof tops outside the chapel were being blown out and the bishop had to stop two times to listen to the howling winds over the roof of the chapel.
The candles kept lighted and there were no winds bloswing inside the chapel which is very wide open. The congregation noticed this. Of course, during the course of the
typhoon starting July 2, the community, the priests and the bishop prayed to St. John Maximovitch that he will again do us a favor. This time, it was granted.
We thank God for this. The Igreja in the Philippines is growing with 15 members composing the Congregation of St. Charles of Brazil. We have a special devotion
to St. John because the Igreja in the Philippines traces its Orthodox root to St. John when he consecrated two Filipinos to the Orthodox episcopate (Mariano Alvaran and David Estonactor)
in 1949 during his two years stay at the International Refugee Center in Tubabao Island, Samar, Philippines. The last of the direct successors of the two bishops consecrated by him
was Bishop Tirso Cinco Noble who died two months ago south of Manila with whom the Igreja has intercommunion relations.
Sincerely, Fr. Joseph G. Borreros, CSC
Primatial Vicar

| At 11:03:06 AM on 6/13/2001, "My miracle experience" from Petros G. Koutsoukos, Lykaiou 2, GR 26500 Patras, GREECE |
- My mother in law age 84, was suffering from a severe pain in the back (waist).
The pain grew stronger and injections stopped to have any effect.
She could hardly walk-and this only with the help of supporting sticks-to the bathroom.
She decided to come and stay for a while with us (at the city of Patras) and have medical
examinations. She had to travel for one and a half hour to come to our place and for her
situation this was already difficult. She had however to come for medical examinations.
The night before her husband was praying and my wife was praying to vladika John for
help and comfort. My mother in law who so far all information she had was from my wife
(her daughter) about a new Russian saint, prayed fervently to Vladika for comfort.
Miraculously, next morning she felt much more comfortable and she could travel.
We took her for examinations (X Ray and magnetic tomography). After the exams and
each day she continued recovering and within 3-4 days she had a little pain only.
When we took the results of the exams to the physician (Orthopaedic) he said that this
woman should suffer so much and he doubted that she could even walk from the pain.
He showed us the X Ray in which the reason was clearly visible:
an entire piece of bone was missing at the pelvis area. As of today she is still
fine and has no pain. The doctor cannot understand it still...
- Personal experience which for a third person may not seem very important but I strongly believe that it is a miracle:
From November 2000 I had a pain in the back, which caused me difficulty in sitting, driving etc.
I have had this pain in the past and I expected that the pain will go away in one week or 10 days.
This time was however persistent and was growing worse. After two months I decided that I had to live
with this pain (I am now 50 years old). One night, it was already beginning May 2001, I was suffering so that
even sleep was uncomfortable because the pain in the hip was growing stronger. My wife had just received from the
United States oil from the lamp in the sepulcher of the Saint and she anointed my hip which was in pain.
Next morning I woke up without pain. Still I have no pain although I give my back a hard time by driving or
carrying weights which other times would cause me pains.
Although I cannot prove it, I believe that the Saint has miraculously helped me.
Glory be to God in his Saints!

|
When I was in my sophmore year in college I read a book
about Vladika. One weekend I woke up with an extreme
fever to the point where I could not get up from my
bed and walk without trembling. This started on Saturday
morning. I fell asleep and our beloved Vladika appeared
to me in a dream. I was walking with him in an area just
outside Moscow, where I was from. I remember that it was
snowing and he was barefoot. We were just walking and I
remember asking him questions about God and our conversation
was incredible. I felt such a sense of peace and didn't
want it to end. Then Vladika took a beam of light that was
coming from the street light, and in his hands it turned
into a blanket. He covered me with it and said "
sleep, sleep..." When I woke up my fever was gone and on Monday
I was feeling fine. It was truly a miracle.

The Holy Spirit has descended!
A Serbian Orthodox parrish now bears the name of St. John Maximovitch.
When the former St. Eugene's Eastern Orthodox Church was received

take the name of St. John Maximovitch as our patron and protector,
and we truly feel St. John led us into the Serbian Church.

My church is named St. John the Wonderworker Antiochian Orthodox Church and is located in Charleston, S.C. Words
can not express the power of the Spirit in this Church. Vladika John takes extra special care to look after
everyone in our community. A few months ago during the Baptism of an infant boy and his fater,
many pictures were taken. When developed, everyone could distincly see uncreated light surrounding
both the child and his father. I felt very moved by the Spirit that day and have since realized that
our little mission Church in Charleston is Blessed by God and protected by Vladika John.
In every Church God's Spirit dwells, but in our Church in Charleston, the Spirit is extra strong.
Thank you for this wonderful page...I cannot tell you how much it has meant to me to be able
to read about our Church's patron Saint.
Sincerely,
Daniel John Crooks of Charleston, South Carolina

| At 11:24:46 PM on 4/17/2001, "My godfather" |
|
Being Bright Week, I'd first like to say, CHRIST IS RISEN!!!
My godfather is currently finishing his third year at university
studying art, he is an amazing icononographer, and plans to return to his home in Romania when he has
finished to attend seminary and become a priest. During his time at college, he has taken a number
of trips all over the country, and I'd like to share something which happened during one of his journies.
My godfather was on his way back from St. John's cathedral in San Fransisco when he met a young girl
who was suffering from a chronic, and possibly terminal illness. She had been suffering for years
and was no longer able to enjoy even the simplest of life's pleasures which I'm sure many of us take
for granted. My godfather gave her some oil from St. John's sepulchre, prayed with her, prayed for her,
and left her with prayers to say once he had left. Not too long after he arrived home he recieved a phone
call from the girl's mother. By God's endless mercy and the intercessions of Blessed John she was cured.
Glory be to God!
I think that it is important to share as much as possible, because the more we are able to hear
or see, the stronger our faith becomes.
Christ is Risen!

Many thanks and accolades to any and all involved in
creating or maintaining this wonderful web site.
What a wonderful use of the internet tool. I knew
nothing at all about Vladika John until I found this site. Sometimes it seems,if we follow the worldly
news a bit to much, that all good is lost and things are hopeless. The story of St. John puts those
thoughts to shame. And, he lived in this time, we have his pictures, some of us knew him. What a great
God is our God, who can take someone who is just a man and raise him up with the angels.
Christ is Risen! Glory to God in the highest.
Death has been annihilated and the Comforter has given us a
contemporary to prove it. I was so taken by the story of Vladika John that I
copied much of it for my wife to read She also loved getting to know him and for personal reasons wished
to be able to venerate the relics of the saint. As we live in Indiana, odds didn't seem great for that
to happen anytime soon so she prayed to her guardian angel to help her. Two weeks later she was invited
to go with a couple friends from our church in Bloomington to St. Stephen Bulgarian Orthodox
Church in Indianapolis. This was a trip of about fifty miles for a special Sunday night lenten
service. During the service, the priest invited all present to come forward to venerate the icon of
St. John Maximovitch that contained HIS RELICS. She couldn't go to St. John so Vladika came to her.
Now this may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but it seems to me that this shows "again
and again" how our Lord gives us what we need. All we have to do is ask.
May Blessed St. John and also St. Hermann of Alaska,
who recently helped us find our way back to the Orthodox Church, pray
to the Lord for us.
